A new public television show aimed at young viewers has two goals: entertain and educate. Faculty members at The University of Texas at El Paso wRehearsals began Aug. 24 for Blast Beyond, a 30-minute show that debuts at 5 p.m. Sept. 12 on KCOS-TV Channel 13 (cable Channel 12). Among those in attendance was Bill Robertson, Ph.D., associate dean in the College of Education, who agreed to participate in the first few shows. Robertson, the show’s primary education liaison, helped plan how the show would run on the set inside the station’s East El Paso studios on the El Paso Community College Administration Building, 9050 Viscount Blvd. The scheduled short segments for education collaborators – around five minutes each – are designed to showcase education in a way that is relevant and practical to the target audience ages 4-8.
